Working Principle

The size, shape, geometric arrangement and peripheral speed of the ploughs are coordinated to force the product into a tree dimensional motion. The effect is increased by independently driven high speed choppers which also disperse agglomerations in the the product, thus creating a virtual mechanical fluid bed of the product being is procesed.
Basically, heat is transferred to the product by its very frequent contact with the heated wall of the equipment.Due to the effective movement of the material, almost the entire surface of the container is available for effective heat transfer unlike the slow moving paddles or ribbons where only the bottom portin of the trough is effective. As a result the equipment is more compact.

Applications

The most important application of FABDOTHERM DRYER is for vacumm drying. The operating vacumm depends mostly on the type of the product moisture and the condensation temprature.
Normal products to be dried can be divided into suspensions,pastes and bulk goods.
Drying pastes and suspensions is particularly problematic as these products are frequently subject to more or less viscous phases at certain moisture percentage whereby lumps are formed.These viscous phases are rapidly treated by the coordination of the ploughs and the choppers in the FABDOTHERM.
The FABDOTHERM DRYER can also be used as an effective Airflow Dryer which can achieve higher evaporation than vacumm drying for products with relatively low initial moisture i.e. around 20% and when the product is hygroscopic. FABDOTHERM DRYERS have been effectively used:-
1. In the Chemical industry for moulding powders, refined chemicals,agrarian chemicals,fibre mixing etc.
2. In the Food industry for cocoa conditioning, chocolate fillings etc.
3. In the Pharmaceutical industry for antibiotics and other drug mixtures.

Mode of Operation
FABDOTHERM Vacumm-Dryer

The dry product enters the dryer through a sufficiently dimensioned hopper which is equipped with a slide, a valve or simply with a lid.The rotating shovels distributive the product uniformly in the equipment.After filling,the drying system is evacuated to the working pressure.The vapours flow through the filter, in which the solid particles are seperated out.
The drying process is supervised by measuring the product temperature.The product temperature at any one point is representative for the entire batch, due to the intensive mixing procedure, and a uniform and protective drying process is thereby guaranteed. After drying, the batch can be cooled to pack or store by circulating a cooling agent in the jacket.
In some cases it is necessary to intermix product components of differing composition into the dried product.This process can be carried out in the actual dryer, due to the thorough mixing.
The dryer is discharged by opening a flush fitted valve in the bottom portin of drum.

Mode of Operation
FABDOTHERM Airflow-Dryer

The drying energy of the airflow-dryer is introduced to appox. 70% through the heated drum wall. The gas flowing through the dryer, in the case of inflammable solutions -inert gas, collects the vapours and transports them to the condenser.The solid particles carried with the vapours are either seperated out in a filter or in a cyclone, according to the particular case.
Before gas enters the dryer it is converted to drying temprature in a heat exchanger.
Products moistened by water are subjected to throughflow operation and products moistened by solutions are subjected to the process of circulation.A mixing process can also be included in the latter case.
